Okana Resort and Indoor Waterpark
The Okana Resort and Indoor Waterpark is a recently constructed multi-building project located on the banks of the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City. Pierce Engineers provided the structural building design for the 100,000 square-foot indoor waterpark, the 144,000 square-foot Family Entertainment Center (FEC), the 11-story hotel, a two-story connector bridge, and five independent Lagoon outbuildings of this new resort complex. The indoor waterpark is an approximately 55’ tall single story building with a 78’ tall slide tower constructed with large custom steel trusses that bear on steel columns. The perimeter of the buildings is encompassed with tilt-up concrete panels. There is an elevated mild cast-in-place concrete walkway that houses seating, locker rooms, and outdoor patio areas and connects either end of the space. The hotel has typical post tension concrete floors supported by concrete columns and walls. The FEC is a two-story building with large ballroom and conference spaces, along with other resort amenities. This building is constructed with typical steel framing. The roof has metal deck on bar joists and the second floor is made up of composite concrete metal deck supported on steel beams, steel columns support these systems. The perimeter of this building is a combination of standard cold formed metal framing and curtain walls. Each Lagoon building consists of a combination of exposed glulam beams, wood trusses, steel frames, and masonry bearing and shear walls. All buildings are founded on conventional shallow isolated and continuous concrete foundations supported on a combination of regular and improved soils.
