Adaptive Reuse challenges the Pierce Engineers design team to breathe new life into existing facilities. It all begins with a knowledge and understanding of historical building construction, leading to investigation and evaluation of the existing structure. With this knowledge, the process then requires creativity in working with these existing conditions to accommodate the desired building use. With renovation and reuse, however, the project only truly begins when design drawings are completed. Construction administration is where we earn our keep… dealing with unexpected conditions and being responsive to contractor issues and addressing these opportunities in an interactive manner with the rest of the design and construction team to keep projects on schedule.
