The Chabad of Madison offers daily, Sabbath, and holiday services, family and marital counseling, social events, holiday events, and Torah classes. The 2-story 11,000 square-foot building houses gathering rooms, a kitchen, a library, classrooms, and office space. The structure is built with a walkout partial basement, with spread footings and retaining walls, CMU exterior walls, interior wood trusses and framing, and long span steel roof beams to maintain an open and versatile space. Challenges for this efficient and cost-effective design included multiple design concepts to ensure the design met the appropriate needs within budget, the tight site with adjacent buildings, and being built on the busy Monroe Street.
