General Mitchell International Airport Baggage Claim
Superstructure design for architecturally expressive canopy adjacent to baggage claim area. Canopy consists of architecturally exposed structural steel supporting glazing designed by specialty contractor. Extensive interaction and coordination was required with the architectural intent and detailing, along with the glazing specialty contractor and other trades, producing a clean look to integrate lighting and drainage with the structure. The structure was designed to be independent of the adjacent existing construction, utilizing moment frames to resist lateral forces.
