Fox Point Lutheran Addition
An office and port cochere addition to the south side of the existing church. The office is a one-story above grade and one-story below addition composed of wood roof trusses bearing on load-bearing CMU walls. The port cochere is a steel-framed structure with wood roof trusses supported on shallow foundations. At the north side of the church, the existing chancel was selectively demolished and the addition was added to extend the main seating area and new chancel to the east. The tall, port cochere addition is composed of steel roof beams and custom steel trusses supported on steel columns and load-bearing CMU walls. Sequencing was extremely important to this portion of the church and the new addition was erected prior to completion of demolition in order to maintain the lateral stability of the existing building. Both additions have full basements with the first floors composed of precast plank bearing on concrete foundation walls supported by conventional shallow foundations.
