The SoNa Lofts apartment project includes 110 apartments, retail space, and underground parking totaling 130,500 square feet. The three above-ground stories of the building are conventional light wood frame construction with 1 level of precast concrete framing below grade. The building's structure takes inspiration from the historic industrial buildings of the surrounding community with features such as a shallow sloped metal clad roof exposed to view, exposed steel framework at the main entry vestibule and stair tower, and roof-top Club Room and deck.  The industrial brownfield site included soils with poor bearing capacity, which was overcome with creative collaboration with the project Geotechnical Engineer.  PE also worked closely with the masonry contractor to utilize pre-fabricated Concrete Masonry Unit wall panels for the stair and elevator shafts to help expedite the construction schedule.
